Childrens Author Robin Carole

Robin Carole was born in California and spent most of her youth growing up in the wine country regions. The youngest of five (and the only girl), Robin learned early the importance of family.

At the age of twelve, Robin observed a Deaf couple in a grocery store using American Sign Language. Robin turned to her mother and shared, “That’s what I’m going to do when I grow up!” After completing high school, Robin enrolled in a junior college and pursued Deaf Studies and ASL. Upon her completion of college, Robin found employment working with Deaf students in colleges, high schools, elementary schools, and preschools. Robin also taught in an adult education program providing training to those wanting to work with the Deaf in educational settings.

Robin, along with the Dream Team, conducted state testing for sign language interpreters seeking their required state certification to work in academic settings with Deaf students. Robin’s work with the Deaf would be over a span of 34 years. After retirement, Robin moved to Washington state to be closer to her mother, Delia, and her brothers. Robin inherited her passion for sharing stories about family from her mother—family is everything!

My mother, her siblings and my grandmother lived in a small metal shed-like structure with no electricity or water or insulation. So, during the extreme summers and bitter cold winters, they endured the elements. I come from strong women!
